Over the past decade, Saint Cecilia Parish has developed significant relationships with several Boston-based nonprofit agencies that focus on housing and homelessness, as well as hunger and food insecurity. Our primary nonprofit partners in these areas are:
Pine Street Inn – www.pinestreetinn.org
Community Servings – www.servings.org
Catholic Charities of Boston – www.ccab.org
The Women’s Lunch Place – www.womenslunchplace.org
Ecclesia Ministries – www.ecclesia-ministries.org
Parishioners assist these agencies by volunteering at their facilities and, in some cases, interacting with their clients. Our volunteer opportunities are also a great way for Saint Cecilia parishioners to get to know one another better. We also participate in various fundraising drives to benefit the agencies and benefit their fundraising events. By design, our volunteer opportunities with these agencies do not require advance training or specialized skill sets. Most require the ability to work on your feet for 2-4 hours. Our food rescue programs with Catholic Charities and Pine Street Inn require volunteer drivers with access to cars. Our five or six volunteer opportunities each month are designed to meet the busy lifestyles of our parishioners and, therefore, most are scheduled for weekends and generally involve a commitment of only 2-4 hours.
